    Flamingos are known for their lanky legs and beautiful coral colors. Also widely admired is the great flamingo migration, a vast sea of flamingos seeking their primary food source in Kenya’s Lake Nakuru. So many flamingos take part in this migration that from a distance the Lake appears pink.

    A female calf born at the LEO Zoological Conservation Center in Greenwich, Connecticut marks the first giraffe birth for the center. The center is home to the only giraffes in Connecticut.

    Argentina's government has created two new marine protected areas called Isla Pinguino Coastal Marine Park and Makenke Coastal Marine Park. According to the Wildlife Conservation Society, the two areas span 1,250 square miles.

    In 2009 Greenpeace campaigned against the fashion industry, raising awareness of its contribution to the deforestation of the Brazilian Amazon. As a result cattle producers agreed to begin supply chain tracking in an effort to combat deforestation.
