The next on the list for Galapagos big 15 is the Flightless Cormorant which is found exclusively on Fernandina and the west coast of Isabela. This species has an incredible adaptive process and is the biggest cormorant in the world, as well as the only cormorant that has lost its ability to fly. Unlike flight birds that are buoyant, hollow boned, and have feathers coated in oil, the cormorants have solid bones, and virtually no oil, so they are able to submerge themselves in water unlike boobies and pelicans that have to vertically plunge to enter a deep level of the water.
