The third animal, also a bird of the Big 15, is the Nazca Booby which are cousins to the blue-footed boobies. They have short, flat, orange beaks with a snow-white plumage and black feet. They are a sub-species of the masked booby and are estimated to have emerged between 400,000 and 500,000 years ago. Hatchlings often push their younger sibling out of the nest to kill them, one of the many reasons they are considered the most violently competitive Darwinist of them all. There are estimated to be about 30,000 of them located in Genovesa, Espanola, and Floreana.
