United Nations Environment Programme celebrates 40 year anniversary with half marathon

In celebration of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) celebrating its 40th year in existence, a 21-kilometer race on February 19 will take place. World-class runners Patrick Makau and Paul Tergat will participate in the race.  UNEP has worked closely with governments over its fourty-year history to promote the well being of endangered species and threatened habitats. The race coincides with the opening of the 12th Special Session of the UNEP Governing Council, with representives from 150 countires attending.
