Last week we wrote about the twin giant panda cubs born at the National Zoo. Unfortunately, the younger of the giant pandas passed away on August 26 at 2pm. The panda cub was with her mother from the night of August 25 until the early morning of August 26 when they swapped the cubs out. They realized that the baby cub had not increased in weight, was weak, and experiencing respiratory issues. The team gave support, antibiotics, formula and fluids but unfortunately at only 4 days old weighing 2.8 ounces, the baby cub passed. Please check out National Zoo’s website for more information about the baby cub and all other animals at the zoo. https://nationalzoo.si.edu/
